The lecturer was given by Dr. Lisa L. Lommel, currently a clinical professor at the School of Nursing, University of California San Francisco, teaching courses of Female Health at Home and Abroad and the Health of Chinese Migrants. She focused on the health status of Chinese immigrants in the United States with over 25 years of clinical work experience and teaching experience in female primary health care. She established a women's health clinic at San Francisco State University, and launched a practice project to investigate teenage pregnancy at the University of California San Francisco.

From the outset of the lecture, Professor Lisa briefed the audience on the challenges facing global health of today. Later, she introduced the concept of evidence-based practice (EBP) in the form of model diagrams, strengthening audiences understanding of EBP by clarifying the similarities and distinctions between evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research. Next, she elaborated on the seven steps of evidence-based practice, including cultivating a spirit of inquiry, asking clinical questions in PICOT format, searching for the best evidence, critically appraising the evidence, integrating the evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences and values, evaluating the outcomes of the practice decisions or changes based on evidence. Using some specific cases as examples, she specified each step mentioning the obstacles during the implementation of EBP and ways to solve them. Last but not least, she shared theoretical models for and application of EBP, encouraging her students to find solutions from theoretical models.

At the conclusion of the lecture, Professor Lisa opened the floor, giving detailed answers to the questions students had in carrying out evidence-based practice. The lecture was rounded off with warm applause.
