1. Volunteer Activity
Our school organizes volunteer activities regularly. Volunteer activity aims to guide teachers and students to actively participate in public service activities and use their professional knowledge to serve the public.
（1）Yushan Middle School – ‘help poor children, spread first-aid knowledge’ volunteer activity
For the 34th World AIDS Day and improve the students awareness of AIDS prevention and health care, Youth Volunteer Association of Xiangya School of Nursing launched an campus free clinic activity on November 27. This activity set up the quiz and distributed the health knowledge pamphlets, brooches with an ‘AIDS prevention’ picture.
（2）Yushan Middle School – ‘help poor children, spread first-aid knowledge’ volunteer activity
In this activity, the teachers from Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University taught the teachers and students in Yushan Middle School first-aid knowledge, such as the knowledge and skills related to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Heimlich Maneuver, and trauma and drowning prevention. The teachers and students in Yushan Middle School learnt those common emergency knowledge and skills through “learning by doing”, which provides an important foundation for campus safety.
(3) Summer practice project – ‘serving the country people in three aspects’ volunteer activity
The teachers and students in Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University went to some countries (i.e., Western Hunan, Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, Yanling District in Zhuzhou City, Yuelu District in Changsha city) to spread scientific and literacy knowledge and offer medical service to residents.
2. Education Campaign
Our school organizes volunteer activities regularly. Volunteer activity aims to guide teachers and students to actively participate in public service activities and use their professional knowledge to serve the public.
(1) Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University launched ‘World AIDS Day’ theme publicity and education activities.
‘World AIDS Day’ theme publicity and education activities were held to popularize AIDS and AIDS prevention knowledge. In this series of activities, many traditional approaches (i.e., posters, brochures, short videos) were included. Besides, many new forms (i.e., art exhibitions, scene dance dramas, campaigns for AIDS prevention programs) emerge this time.
(2) Professor Wang Xiuhua from Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University and her team delivered a lecture on chronic diseases in Guanshaling Community
Before the lecture, the doctors of Guanshaling Community Health Service Center provide some services for free, i.e., blood sugar measurement, physical examination, health education, free basic public health services introduction, and then registered health information for the residents. Then, Professor Wang Xiuhua provided a lecture including knowledge about diabetes, osteoporosis, and first aid in the home. Many elder people participated and were satisfied with this lecture.
Through this activity, the residents learned a lot of health knowledge about diabetes, improved their awareness of health, and improved the health prevention and coping ability of the elderly.
(3) Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University organizes ‘public health activities’ for Traffic Police Detachment of Changsha Public Security Bureau
Professor Chen Jia and the students in Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University went to the Traffic Police Detachment of Changsha Public Security Bureau to carry out training on the knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Through this standardized training, the traffic police had a comprehensive understanding of the operation essentials of CPR and their operation techniques had been greatly improved. We held this activity to improve the first aid skills of the public through the dissemination of professional knowledge.
(4) Teachers and students from the Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University went to the community to popularize health knowledge and deliver health knowledge to community families.
To implement the Healthy China 2030 Action Plan and meet the major health needs of society, the teachers and students of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University, carried out health education and health promotion activities in many communities in Changsha, with the guidance of the dean Professor Tang Siyuan.
3. University/School-Enterprise Cooperation Project

(1) Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University helps ZhuZhou city to promote elderly care service
Elderly Integral Care Research and Practice Base officially approved. The two sides (Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University and Cheng Fa Le Xiang company) will cooperate in the scientific research, personnel training, social service related to elderly care. This cooperation will play full advantages of theory and practice. They will promote technologies in medicine, nursing, home care, and rehabilitation related to elderly care, and pilot application and market transformation of the related research outcomes. They aim to jointly create a Research and Practice Demonstration Base, which can be reproduced and promoted, on the integrated care of medicine, nursing, home care, and rehabilitation.
(2) Xiangya - Oceanwide Health Management Research Institute of Central South University was established.
Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University and China Oceanwide Holding Group establish the Xiangya - Oceanwide Health Management Research Institute of Central South University. This research institute is committed to carrying out relevant research and international cooperation on the elderly long-term care insurance, long-term care service system construction, and geriatric care technology and carrying out postgraduate education and continuing education training in geriatric care and health management.
