On October 23, 2018, Dr. Yu Wenweichao, assistant professor of nursing and medical leadership at the University of Washington, paid a visit to Xiangya Nursing School of Central South University.
At 10:00 am, In the International Lecture Hall on the fourth floor, Fuqing Building of Xiangya Medical School, Dr. Yu Wenweichao brought an academic lecture entitled "Nursing Research: From Precision Medicine to Chronic Illness Self-management" to the teachers and students of Xiangya Medical School. The lecture was hosted by Deputy Dean Wang Honghong. Dr. Yuwenweichao gave a professional and interesting presentation on precision medicine and chronic disease self-management in nursing research. She said accurate medicine should be based on four principles, including personalized, predictive, preventative and participatory. With regard to chronic disease management, Dr. Yuwenweichao said that people's life expectancy is now higher than ever, so chronic disease management is becoming more important. Based on the research case, she pointed out that to improve the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases, patients and families should be the center, and they should actively participate in health management.
At 3 PM, Dr. Yu Wenweichao attended the scientific research symposium held in the conference room 711, Xiaoqian Building of Xiangya Medical School. The symposium mainly focused on the research field of sleep health management and related progress, and the present teachers and students had an in-depth discussion with Dr. Yu Wenweichao. Teacher Liu Jia, head nurse of the Transplantation Department of Xiangya No.3 Hospital, also shared her efforts to improve sleep disorders in ICU patients.
