Founded on February 22, 2017, Xiangya-Oceanwide Health Management Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) of Central South University (CSU) is a research institution jointly established by CSU and China Oceanwide Holdings Group in the spirit of complementing each other's advantages and jointly promoting the development of health in China. It is a platform for cooperation between government, industry, academia and research in the fields of health management, elderly care, talent training and discipline construction.
The policy of the institute is to face the major strategic needs of "Healthy China" and the frontiers of world health science, to research and establish service standards and norms, key and appropriate technologies for health management and elderly care that are suitable for China's national conditions, to cultivate talents in the discipline, to build a leading domestic and internationally renowned emerging interdisciplinary discipline, and to establish a leading academic position in health management and elderly care research. The Institute is committed to developing talents, building up leading and internationally renowned emerging interdisciplinary disciplines, establishing a leading-edge academic position in health management and elderly care research, generating innovative scientific research results in the field of health industry, continuously promoting industrial transformation of scientific research results, and making fundamental, strategic and forward-looking innovative contributions to the national health of China.
The Institute has 6 full-time researchers, including 2 young researchers imported from overseas, 5 laboratory technicians and 2 research assistants.
The Institute has one key laboratory in Hunan Province, one laboratory for basic research on community chronic disease management and geriatric care, and one center for big health data and cohort research. in March 2018, the construction of a biospecimen bank was started, which provides the basic conditions for carrying out big health data and cohort research.
The Institute works with the government, hospitals, communities, and social care institutions to form a win-win model of multi-disciplinary cooperation. For example, the Institute cooperates with Hunan Provincial Health Care Commission to build Hunan Provincial Research Center for Aging Health Development; relies on the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (Xiangya) to establish the Institute of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and Management; establishes a health management innovation and entrepreneurship incubation base with the national crowdsourcing space Beijing Polar Plus Technology Co. Ltd. and has developed "Health Industry + Innovation and Entrepreneurship" special boutique courses.
