Since the Covid-19 outbreak, Xiangya Nursing School has given full support to the party committee, gathered strength of all faculty and made full use of its professional advantages to fight the Covid-19, which fully demonstrates the responsibility of "Xiangya nurses”.

Multi-angle and all-round mobilization and deployment

Since the outbreak, in  the spirit of President Xi, the school party committee has firmly implemented the strategies made by the Party Central Committee, strengthened the organization and leadership, unified ideological understanding, clarified responsibilities and notified people through email, WeChat, QQ, video conference, education campaigns, etc., to carry out the mobilization and deployment of epidemic prevention and control work from multiple perspectives.

First, the party committee has implemented the main responsibility. During the time, the school party committee immediately established the school's leading group for epidemic prevention and control, and issued the "Xiangya Nursing School COVID-19 Prevention and Control Plan" and the "Notice on Further Improving the School's Epidemic Prevention and Control Work". The leading group is responsible for epidemic prevention and control, science promotion, supervision and coordination, public opinion tracking, information reporting and emergency response, and makes corresponding decisions based on the current epidemic situation. The directors of departments, offices and centers of the university are specifically responsible for different parts of the epidemic prevention work.

Second, the party committee has encouraged everyone to make good use of their professional advantages, and actively participate in the fight against the epidemic. The party committee has immediately sent initiative proposals to clinical teachers and alumni of three affiliated hospitals and called on everyone to bear their mission. It has given full play to the professional advantages of Xiangya nursing discipline so as to fully exert the dedication of Xiangya nursing staff, and set up the exemplary role of Xiangya nursing party members. It has pulled together in times of trouble and adhered to the Party's Central Committee’s strategy proposed by President Xi, and set up the belief that we must unite as one, share the same mission, strengthen our confidence and win the battle against the epidemic.

Full devotion of frontline teachers in fighting the battle

In the Spring Festival of 2020, under the overall arrangement of Central South University and the call of the Party Committee of Xiangya Nursing School, a batch of Xiangya nurses went to Hubei to fight the epidemic, and saved lives with their profession and love. Li Li, the tutor of master's degree in our school, is the deputy director of Clinical Nursing Teaching and Research Department and the deputy leader of the medical team of Hubei Province in Xiangya Hospital. Once she arrived in Xiangya Ward of Xiehe West Hospital, she quickly changed her awareness of protection into a standardized process and took the standardized Xiangya nursing process of "consulting first, inspecting second, treating third and teaching fourthly". Zhu Aiqun, the master tutor of our school, is the deputy director of the Emergency Department of Xiangya Second Hospital. She is the most senior but the most low-key teacher in the nursing team. She said, "human life is like flowing water. Only when she is moving forward, can it be more beautiful and meaningful." Huang Hui, the Postgraduate Tutor of our school, is the deputy director of the Nursing Teaching and Research Department of Xiangya Third Hospital. On the second day of the third group of Hubei Medical Assistance Team in Wuhan, he, together with the other two colleagues of the hospital, formulated more reasonable protective measures and norms for his teammates from the aspects of logistics, prevention and control training, and provided the best support for the safety of medical staff.

Full support from teachers and students in the rear

Teachers and students of Xiangya Nursing School in the rear also went all out and quickly devoted their efforts to fight the epidemic. Based on the current situation of epidemic prevention and control, they gave full play to their specialty, carried out a series of education and publicity work extensively, and continued the work to prevent and control the epidemic.

During the period, the teachers of the school made full use of their medical professional background to promote the epidemic prevention knowledge, common sense and skills through various non-contact tools and channels. They also publicized and interpreted the relevant policies and measures of epidemic prevention and control, and led the masses to carry out scientific and professional protection. The COVID-19 protection course was recorded and taught online by Professor Zhang Jingping and Associate Professor Guo Jia of the Department of Internal Medicine Nursing, which achieved remarkable social influence. Professor Zhou Leshan, a professor of pediatric nursing, led the team to publish a series of epidemic prevention and control articles on the official micro-blog, such as "New Coronavirus Pneumonia - Child Prevention and Control", "Special Start of School - A Letter in the New Term of 2020”, etc., to promote the professional knowledge of epidemic prevention and control. Professor Gu Can, a member of the Zhigong Party of the school, also devoted himself in helping the families of the medical staff in Hubei. He immediately submitted the proposal of "Suggestions on Developing Community Assistance to the Families of the Medical Staff in Yuelu District, Hubei" to the local political association, hoping to help relieve the worries of the medical staff in Hubei. The proposal has been reported to Changsha Municipal Party Committee as public opinion and is expected to be promoted in the whole city and province.

The Party Committee of the school also carried out the theme publicity and education activities for all party members. At the same time, they actively used the various publicity platforms of the school to carry out epidemic prevention publicity. Since the time, the school Party Committee has actively collected the touching stories of front-line models of Xiangya Nursing School, published 20 articles in total through the school official microblog, including epidemic prevention knowledge, psychological counseling and other aspects. It also collected a large number of touching stories of front-line teachers of Xiangya Nursing School, editing and publishing the book "the Rebel Who Guards the Life -- Xiangya Nursing Staff's Fighting Against the Epidemic", which widely publicized the heroic stories of Xiangya nursing staff in helping Hubei to fight the epidemic, spread good messages and promote positive energy.

Full support for daily epidemic prevention and control

On the one hand, the clinical front line struggled to save lives and help the wounded; on the other hand, the teachers in the rear carried out extensive education and publicity. The daily management and service work of the school has not been slowed down at all.

In the spirit of the school notice: "Plan for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 in Xiangya Nursing School" and the "Notice on Further Prevention and Control of Epidemic Situation in Schools", the party office and the office of students adhered to the daily reporting system and did a good job in reporting the statistics of the flow of teachers and students to the relevant departments. Since the beginning of online teaching, the teaching situation of the school is stable, and the learning effect is good. Teachers and students of the school sent solicitude and encouragement to each other every day through working groups, QQ, telephone messages and other ways; they warmly reminded all teachers and students to adjust their work and learning status, communicate with each other through continuous thinking and work, and master the ideological dynamic and overall situation of teachers and students in time. Chen Jia, Li Lezhi and Li Yinglan, members of the Party Committee and Deputy Dean of the school, also raised many kinds of supplies to fight against the epidemic, donated masks, disinfectants and other supplies free of charge, ensuring the work demand of the school for epidemic prevention and control. At present, the Party Committee of the school is organizing all branches to actively carry out the publicity and education activities in fighting the epidemic and msking donations.
