Xiangya School of Nursing Has Successfully Completed the International Evaluation of the Degree Programs of Nursing at Central South University

At 8:00 am on October 23, 2020, the international evaluation of the first-level nursing degree program of Central South University was successfully held in Xiangya School of Nursing. Zhan Lihua, director of the Degree Office of the Graduate School of Central South University, Professor Li Chao of the Graduate Degree Office, Professor Li Tao, secretary of the Party Committee of Xiangya School of Nursing, Professor Tang Siyuan, dean of Xiangya School of Nursing, Professor Maritta Valimaki, Professor Li Lezhi, associate dean of Xiangya School of Nursing, Xiao Jianglong, director of the Graduate Management Office, Associate Professor Guo Jia, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center, Associate Professor Sun Mei, and Associate Professor Liu Minhui attended the meeting. Professor Jyu Lin Chen from the University of California, San Francisco was the leader of the evaluation expert group, and Professor Deborah Knoniak Griffin from the University of California, Los Angeles, Professor Ann Aartley Williams from New York University, Professor Lily Dongxia Xiao from Flinders University, Professor Wipada Kunaviktiku from Chiang Mai University, Professor Wendy Gifford from the University of Ottawa and Professor Wenru Wang from the National University of Singapore participated in the international evaluation of degree programs.



Director Zhan Lihua of the Graduate School Degree Office first gave a speech and announced the evaluation experts. Then Associate Professor Liu Minhui reported to the expert group the self-assessment of the Nursing Degree Conferring Entities of Central South University from four aspects including training goals and standards, basic conditions, talent training, and special projects.


According to the assessment materials and report, the expert group raised questions from the aspects of doctor's and master's enrollment, joint training, determination of research direction, curriculum setting, supervisor's responsibilities, etc.,  which were answered in detail by Xiangya School of Nursing. The expert team leader summarized the review opinions and gave timely feedback.


Finally, Tang Siyuan, dean of Xiangya School of Nursing expressed his gratitude to the degree evaluation expert group, and said that he would improve it based on the expert group’s opinions, and invited experts to participate in the International Nursing Academic Forum to be held next year.


Central South University attached great importance to the construction of degree points. Experts from all over the world were invited to evaluate the degree conferring entities of nursing discipline in our university on the international level, find out the problems and the gap with foreign benchmark colleges and departments in this regard, so as to lay the foundation for the future strategic planning of degree authorization points. Central South University and Xiangya School of Nursing of Central South University will attach great importance to the evaluation opinions of the expert group, mobilize the whole school, and focus on solving the problems found in the evaluation. The school will take this evaluation as an important opportunity for the development of the discipline, earnestly summarize the experience, implement the measures to solve the problems in the process of postgraduate training, and strive to build the school into a world-class university and a first-class discipline, and build the nursing degree conferring entities into an international high-level postgraduate training unit.
