BIO


Hui Zeng is a Professor, postgraduate tutor of Xiangya Nursing School at Central South University, and is the Director of Fundamental Nursing. She got doctor degree of Psychiatry and Mental Health from Central South University, and Master of Nursing from Chiang Mai University, Thailand.

Professor Zeng has been a registered nurse since 1987. From July1987 to May 1997, she worked in the Department of Internal Medicine of Xiangya Hospital. In June 1997, she was transferred to Hunan Medical University, which is now Central South University. She has visited the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Thailand, India and other countries. She is a Chia fellow of Yale University and a visiting scholar of UCLA. At the same time, she acts as a Vice-Chairman of the Professional Committee of Geriatric Psychology at Chinese Psychological Association, Standing Committee of Geriatric Psychological Committee of China Mental Health Association,Standing Committee of Alzheimer's Disease Special Committee of China Rehabilitation Medical Association, Vice-Chairman of Rehabilitation Nursing Committee of China Geriatric Health Association and the Vice-committee of Care Branch of Hunan Geriatrics Society. In recent years, she has undertaken and participated in 15 international and domestic scientific research projects and compiled 28 textbooks, including 6 textbooks chief-edited and more than 80 papers published. Her main research direction is elderly cognition and nursing. Professor Zeng and her team are working on the cognitive functions of the elderly, trying to develop assessment tools and find more comprehensive non-pharmacy treatments, including cognitive training, self-relaxation training, reminiscence therapy, multiple exercises, acupressure, and etc., to improve cognitive functions of the elderly or delay their deterioration.
