Professor Xianhong Li is one of the earliest nurses to earn a PhD degree as a full time doctoral student in China. Her Research focuses on health promotion among vulnerable populations, especially on social science and behavioral intervention for HIV high risk popualtins and children with illnesses. Dr.Li started her research in HIV/AIDS areas since 2005. She received training on research methodology in Yale University from 2007-2008, and also Unveristy of California in Los Angeles from 2014-2015 and 2016-2017. She is the PIs for more than 10 international, national, and local research projects, including funding from National Institute of Health in United States, National Nature Science Foundation, and China National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences, to develop interventions that improve medication adherence, reduce stigma and prevent HIV. She is leading a team on composing pictures books for children with illnesses to gain knowledge, coping skills and encourage to get through the disease. Currently two of the pictures books has been published. She has published more than 80 academic papers, and 20 papers are indexed in SCI. She is the reviewers for the International Journal of Nursing Studies, the Journal of Nursing & Health Sciences, Plos One, Chinese Journal of HIV/AIDS, and Chinese General Medicine. Currently she is the research committee member of the Association of Chinese nurses; Vice director of Health Education committee, Hunan Association of Chinese nurses; Executive director of Hunan Provincial Research Center for Women and Children Health; and Editorial board member of Chinese Journal of AIDS & STD. Her researches have gain two prizes awarded by Hunan Provincial Ministriy of Science and Technology.
