Professor Wendy Cross and Associate Professor Virginia Plummer from Monash University in Australia Visited Xiangya School of Nursing for project cooperation

On September 21st, Professor Wendy Cross, Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery of Australia Monash University, visited Xiangya College of Nursing, along with Dean of the Australian College of Mental Health, and Associate Professor Virginia Plummer, Director of the International Affairs Department of the School of Nursing and Midwifery of Monash University. Two sides discussed issues including cooperation model of scientific research projects and joint diploma program of undergraduates and postgraduates. Vice President Wang Honghong presided over this symposium.

On behalf of Xiangya College of Nursing, Secretary Luo Junfei extended a warm welcome to foreign guests. Dean Tang Siyuan, Vice President Wang Honghong, and Vice President Li Xianhong introduced the history, undergraduate and postgraduate education, and scientific research of the school. The two guests from Australia focused on scientific research of the Monash School of Nursing and the training programs and projects of doctoral students. The two universities reached a preliminary agreement on the establishment of a nursing education research center, hoping that the center will carry out further scientific research cooperation, including exchange and visits of undergraduates, and promote the "2+2" joint learning and training program of undergraduates and doctoral students.

In the afternoon, Vice President Wang Honghong, invited the two professors to the National Demonstration Community-based Health Service Center-Wangyuehu where they shared the existing community-based medical and health services model in China. The management of mental and chronic diseases and the evaluation methods of health services were introduced, further motivating the two sides to carry out research cooperation.


It is reported that Monash University is one of Australia's largest national universities among the top, and is rated as an Australian five-star university. The School of Nursing and Midwifery currently has more than 2,000 students, and publishes more than 100 high-level research papers every year, providing a variety of doctoral training programs for international students. The visit of the two professors opened a new chapter in the cooperation between the two universities, contributing to the experience sharing and talent training between the two universities.
