On September 25, 2019, Professor Alison Lydia Kitson, Vice President of Flinders University, Dean of School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Professor Lily Dongxia Xiao, and Dr. Leila Mohammadi of School of Medicine and Public Health of Flinders University visited our school. The memorandum of cooperation between Central South University of China and Flinders University was signed.
The visit and exchange meeting was held in the conference room 637 of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University. Li Tao, Dean of the Party Committee of Xiangya School of Nursing, Dean Tang Siyuan, Vice Dean Li Xianhong, and Vice Dean Li Lezhi met with the delegation group. Participants in the meeting chaired by Vice President Li Xianhong included Guo Jia, Director of the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Center, Xiao Jianglong, Director of the Graduate Office, Liu Zina, Deputy Director of the Discipline Office, and Chen Ling, Assistant of Foreign Affairs.
Li Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University, delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of all the faculty and staff of the school, he welcomed the visit of the Flinders University delegation. In the context of the school's strength in nursing as well as national strategic needs, Li Tao emphasized that the two sides can work together to explore multi-channel and multi-level cooperation methods to build deeper, more comprehensive partnership and jointly strengthen the nursing discipline in Central South University and cultivate leading talents in the field of nursing.
Tang Siyuan, Dean of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University introduced the history of the cooperation between Central South University and Flinders University. Central South University and Flinders University have had friendly cooperation with each other for more than ten years. There is a good foundation for cooperation in exchanges among students and faculty, joint training of graduate students, scientific research, and interdisciplinary development, all bringing close friendship. The two sides signed a memorandum on August 5, 2009, and since have cooperated in areas of common concern with great results achieved.
Professor Alison Lydia Kitson, Vice President of Flinders University and Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, briefly introduced Flinders University School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the policies of the Australian government in the development of nursing disciplines as well as financial support given to this area. As one of the principals of Flinders University, she also expressed full confidence that the two universities will unite and achieve substantial results.
At the meeting, representatives of both parties formally signed a memorandum of cooperation. The two universities hope to use this as an opportunity to work closely with each other while both draw on the advantages in scientific research, joint training, exchange program, and characteristic subjects. The Flinders China Scholarship Program and the "Cotutelle Project" are also yielding win-win results.
In this meeting, a visiting professor appointment ceremony for Central South University was also held. Professor Lily Dongxia Xiao of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University was appointed as a visiting professor at Central South University. Li Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiangya School of Nursing, congratulated Professor Lily Dongxia Xiao with an appointment letter issued by Dean Tang Siyuan. Professor Lily Dongxia Xiao has always been an ambassador for the two sides that has promoted cooperation between each other. After expressing her gratitude, she said she would do her best to further contribute to the development of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University.
