In 2017, the ARWU Ranking was officially released, and Central South University became the only university in the country to be listed in the nursing majors.

A total of more than 1,400 universities from 80 countries made the list, with 162 from the Chinese. The ranking covers 52 disciplines, including five fields of science, engineering, life sciences, medicine and social sciences. Central South University ranks first in the world in metallurgical engineering and third in mining engineering. For nursing, it is the only university in China to be listed.
