Professor Tam Troung Donnelly from University of Calgary Visited Xiangya Nursing School

On the morning of July 7, 2017, Tam Troung Donnelly, Professor of Nursing school of University of Calgary, Canada, accompanied by Professor Liao Li, dean of Nursing School of Central South University and deputy secretary Yu Xiaoqiu, visited our school.

Professor Tang Siyuan, Professor Zeng Hui, Professor Luo Yang, Professor Gu Can and Associate Professor Sun Mei attended the symposium. Professor Lisa Lommel from the School of Nursing, University of California, San Francisco, who is visiting us, also attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Associate Professor Guo Jia.

On behalf of the school, our dean Professor Tang Siyuan extended a warm welcome to Professor Tam Troung Donnelly and the colleagues of Nursing School of Nanhua University on his first visit. Associate Professor Guo Jia introduced the establishment and development of Xiangya Nursing School. Professor Tam Troung Donnelly also introduced the current status of research and teaching in Nursing School of University of Calgary, Canada and its branch in Qatar.

At the symposium, the two foreign guests discussed with the experts attending the symposium on discipline construction and personnel training and explored future cooperation opportunities. They held a heated discussion and spoke freely. The atmosphere of the meeting was lively and full of academic atmosphere. After the discussion, with Professor Tang Siyuan and Professor He Guoping’s company, Professor Tam Troung Donnelly and a few people visited the school laboratory. Two foreign guests showed their gratitude and praise to our nursing discipline construction and teaching conditions, and also put forward the suggestions to the future development of our school laboratory, such as comprehensive for multidisciplinary cross scenario teaching, etc.


It is reported that Professor Tam Troung Donnelly's visit is funded by the Overseas famous teacher introduction program of Central South University and he would work in our nursing school for one month. During his work, he visited our school and affiliated hospital to comprehensively understand the current situation of nursing education and clinical development in China and seek opportunities for cooperation.
