James Wiley, visiting professor from Institute of Health Policy, University of California, San Francisco, was Invited to Give Lectures at Our School

At 8:00 AM on May 25, 2018, the "Forum of Famous Teachers and Experts of Central South University" hosted by Xiangya Nursing School was successfully held in room 457, Xiaoqian building, the new campus of Xiangya Medical School. This forum invited Professor James Wiley of the Institute of Health Policy of the University of California, San Francisco and brought us two lectures on the themes of " A Primary Care Model for Managing Diabetes and Other Chronic Conditions" and " Informal Notes on Writing Research Proposals ", which attracted many teachers and students including foreign students. The lecture was hosted by Guo Jia, associate professor of Xiangya Nursing School.

Professor Wiley taught with wisdom and interest, and interacted with students actively. In the first lecture, Professor Wiley introduced the patient-centered family medical model, which aims to reduce the medical expenses of patients with chronic diseases and better manage the diseases of patients with chronic diseases; he further introduced the application of the model in the US and the future research direction. In the second lecture, Professor Wiley introduced the things that we have to consider when writing the project plan, including the setting of target population, the calculation of sample size, the analysis of survey data, etc., which benefited us a lot. Professor Wiley said that he sincerely hopes to provide some help for our research.


After the lecture, the students asked questions enthusiastically, and Professor Wiley patiently answered each of them. Finally, Associate Professor Guo Jia expressed his gratitude to Professor Wiley and the teachers and students of Xiangya Nursing School and hoped that we can learn something from this lecture.


Professor Wiley will also take part in helping international students write their thesis proposals.
