On the morning of July 13, 2018, Professor Emerson EA, deputy dean of Rory Meyers School of Nursing, New York University, was invited to give a lecture in Xiangya Nursing School, Central South University. With the theme of "Teaching and Innovation", Professor Emerson EA shared the current teaching challenges and strategies for New York University Nursing School. All the staff of Xiangya Nursing School of Central South University, the person in charge of nursing teaching in the affiliated hospital, the clinical teacher, and all the students of Loudi Vocational and Technical School training class, the first phase of Xiangya Nursing School listened to professor Emerson EA's wonderful sharing.

Associate Professor Li Xianhong, deputy dean of Xiangya Nursing School, hosted the lecture, and Associate Professor Zhou Wenjuan served as the interpreter of the lecture. Dr. Hongping Tian, Director of Global Affairs, Rory Meyers School of Nursing, New York University, and Dr. Allision Vorderstrasse also attended the leacutre. At the beginning of the lecture, Emerson EA introduced the Rory Meyers School of Nursing at New York University. He then highlighted the school's strategies for attracting diverse learners and its thinking on the frontiers of nursing education. In terms of strategies to attract diversified learners, Professor Emerson mainly introduced the operation of "Large Classes" through flipped classroom, case study, team teaching method, role playing and other means. After that, he also introduced the development of complex courses, the cultural care of teaching and the way for teachers and students to go out for further study. When introducing the thinking of Rory Meyers School on the forefront issues of nursing education, he mainly showed the scale of clinical simulation learning center, teaching operation mode and faculty strength of the school. Finally, when introducing the strategic plan and vision for Rory Meyers School of Nursing, Professor Emerson expressed his good wish to establish more cooperation with Chinese universities on behalf of his school.

Emerson is rigorous and intelligent in thinking and teaches with humor, which has attracted active interaction between teachers and students present. During the sharing process, many teachers put forward their own difficulties and bottlenecks in the teaching process. Professor Emerson explained their doubts one by one on the spot. The whole lecture had a warm atmosphere and harmonious communication.
