Emerson Ea and Others from Rory Meyers College of Nursing, New York University Visited Our School

At 9AM. on July 11, 2018, Dr. Emerson Ea, deputy dean of Rory Meyers School of Nursing, Dr. Allision Vorderstrasse, and Dr. Hongping Tian, director of Global Affairs Office, visited our school. Secretary Li Tao, deputy dean Li Xianhong, Professor Zhang Jingping, Professor Wang Xiuhua, Professor Zeng Hui, Professor Feng Hui, Professor Yang Min, Associate Professor Gu Can, Associate professor Guo Jia, Associate Professor Sun Mei, Associate Professor Zhou Wenjuan, Professor Liu Zina and some master and doctoral students attended the exchange and talk. The meeting was chaired by deputy dean Li Xianhong.

At the beginning of the meeting, Li Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiangya Nursing School of Central South University, gave a welcome speech, expressing warm welcome to three foreign guests from Rory Meyers School of Nursing, New York University. Then, Vice Dean Li Xianhong made a detailed explanation on the general situation, discipline development, student training, faculty structure, scientific research and international cooperation of Central South University and Xiangya Nursing School respectively. Three experts from the School of Nursing of New York University shared the main research directions and fields of the school at present, such as diabetes prevention, long-term care for the elderly, mental health and psychological care, etc., and highlighted the advanced nursing simulation training base and the characteristic and effective teaching operation mode of the school. Participants in our hospital also shared their research achievements and prospects, including the geriatric care assessment system, nursing psychology research, geriatric health comprehensive assessment system, related research on the cognitive function of the elderly, and mental health research on postpartum depression. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions and reached a lot of constructive consensus.

This symposium also set up a special exchange link between doctoral students and visiting experts in the school, they reported their research direction and feelings during the doctoral study. The cordial communication with the three experts broadened the students' international academic vision and enhanced their professional confidence. The atmosphere of the symposium was harmonious, and the exchange made both sides full of expectations for further deepening cooperation in the future. It was believed that the future exchange and cooperation would surely promote the common development of nursing education and teaching of both sides.
