A Delegation from America Yale-China Association Came to Visit Our School

On the morning of April 23, Yale-China Association President David Youtz, Yale-China Association Chairman Ping Liang and Yale-China Association delegation members Nancy Reynolds, Kris Fennie, Jessica Hahne and Yale School of Nursing Professor Robin Whittemore visited our nursing school at Central South University. Wu Xiaochuang, Deputy Dean of Xiangya Medical School, Li Tao, Party Secretary of the school, Deputy Dean Li Xianhong, scholars of the school and three affiliated hospitals participated in the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Associate Professor Guo Jia. Secretary Li Tao made a speech on behalf of the school. He first expressed his warm welcome to the Yale-China Association and the visiting guests of Yale University. Li Tao said Xiangya nursing education after one hundred years of booming development, discipline construction, faculty construction, high quality talent training and great progress has been made gratifying progress, all these achievements are made thanks to the help of others. In the past, the school and the association held in-depth cooperation and exchanges, and established good relations of cooperation and deep friendship, and laid a good foundation. The school in the future need better and faster development, so they want the future to have a deeper and more broad cooperation. Associate Professor Guo Jia of Xiangya Nursing School introduced the general situation of Xiangya Nursing School to visiting guests and participants from the aspects of development history, teachers, teaching, scientific research, international cooperation and exchange. Deputy Dean Wu Xiaochuang of Xiangya Medical School sahred about the history and deep relationship between Xiangya Medical School and Yale-China Association. He thanked Yale-China Association for its support to Xiangya medical education, scientific research and medical treatment, and hoped that both sides could work together to further improve the level of Xiangya medical and nursing education, scientific research and medical treatment. Yale-china President David Youtz expressed his appreciation for the long and fruitful cooperation between Yale-China and the school, and expressed his willingness to cooperate with Yale-China more widely in new areas.


President David Youtz also introduced Yale-China's project in western Hunan and expressed his hope that the two sides will work together to provide better basic health services in western Hunan. In the subsequent meetings, the two sides discussed further cooperation in medicine, nursing, education and scientific research, focusing on the implementation of the Xiangxi Project. Representatives of Jia scholars from Xiangya Nursing School and affiliated hospitals of Central South University also took an active part in this study, actively discussing how to carry out scientific research cooperation in Xiangxi Project.

On the afternoon of April 24th, Nancy Radcliffe Reynolds, a professor from Johns Hopkins University, was invited to be the visiting professor of Central South University at the appointment ceremony held in the meeting room 637 of Xiangya Nursing School. Deputy Dean Li Xianhong hosted the ceremony. Secretary Li Tao read out the appointment decision and presented the appointment letter. He congratulated Professor Nancy Radcliffe Reynolds on becoming a visiting professor of Central South University. He hoped that Professor Nancy could make use of her academic resources and influence to help the development of our nursing school. Professor Nancy spoke afterwards, saying how happy she was to have won the prize. Professor Nancy looked back with pleasure on the past 12 years of communication and cooperation with Xiangya Nursing School. She said that all the teachers and students of Xiangya Nursing School have worked together to create a good academic culture and scientific atmosphere in the school, and she really felt the rapid and vigorous development of Xiangya Nursing School. Johns Hopkins University Nursing School is one of the top nursing schools in the United States. Xiangya Nursing School is one of the top nursing schools of China. Professor Nancy said she is willing to continue to make two first-class universities the bridge and link, communication and cooperation to high-tech talent training and discipline for the school to make their own contribution to the development of further.
