Admission of 2017 Master Program of Advanced Nursing and Medical Technology

Part 1 Program Introduction

1.Training Goals

To provide assistance in the cultivation of advanced nursing talents for developing countries, train advanced nursing and medical talents, improve their medical service and management level and advanced nursing education.

——Through classroom teaching, students can well grasp the basic theory and systematic professional knowledge of the discipline, and master the basic knowledge and skills for nursing research, such as medical statistics, nursing research, and application of medical statistical software.

——Students can develop strong abilities of clinical analysis and thinking through the learning of courses, and can master the professional technologies related to the research direction to solve technical problems in practice.

—— To cultivate students’ abilities of creative and scientific thinking, and they can learn and master the basic methods of nursing research in practice.

——To cultivate students’ leadership and management abilities in health profession.

2.Training Mode

Length of Schooling

The basic period of schooling is 2 years.

Teaching Mode

The courses are taught in English. The combination of classroom teaching, clinical practice, and thesis is adopted. Students can also apply for some elective courses taught in Chinese in the School.

3.Courses

Compulsory Courses (14 credits)

Elective Courses ( 20 credits in total, choose 2-3 courses from the following courses)

Training ( A total of 10 credits, including four weeks of clinical practice)

(Note: Not all elective courses are offered every year. If the number of students selecting the elective course is less than 3, the course will not be offered.)

5. Master Thesis

Students should focus on various aspects of clinical nursing practice to prepare for thesis. At the end of the first semester, the School will invite some teachers to provide thesis guidance, and arrange students to choose their supervisors. The thesis must be closely integrated with the training of clinical nursing decision-making ability, reflecting the students' ability to use nursing and related disciplinary theories, knowledge and methods to analyze and solve practical nursing problems. The thesis can be in various forms, such as research report and case study. The thesis shall be written in accordance with the "Standards for Postgraduate Thesis Writing of Central South University", and the number of words is generally not less than 20,000 (excluding Chinese and English abstracts, references, appendices and acknowledgement). After the thesis is reviewed and approved by the supervisor and the School, and student can apply for thesis review and defense. After the thesis is reviewed, the thesis defense can be organized. The composition of the Thesis Defense Committee is approved by the School.

6.Conferring of Degree

After getting 31 credits, passing all exams, and completing the thesis and thesis defense within the stipulated period of schooling, the Master Degree of Nursing can be awarded to the student after the review and approval by the Degree Evaluation Committee of Central South University.

Part 2 Application

1.Conditions of Application

A. The applicant shall be a non-Chinese national with a valid foreign passport, who abides by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, and the rules and regulations of Central South University, and respects the customs and habits of the Chinese people;

B. The applicant is not more than 45 years old and shall have obtained a bachelor's degree, with English proficiency and more than 3 years of work experience, and meets the professional requirements specified in the school admissions brochure;

C. Government officials, middle and high-level research or management personnel in academic institutions, and middle and senior management personnel in related fields;

D. The score of TOEFL is not less than 615 (paper test) or 250 (computer test), or the score of new TOEFL is higher than 100, or the IELTS score is no less than 6.5. Among them, the composition score of TOEFL is not less than 5.0, and the writing score of IELTS is not less than 6.0. Or other certificates of English proficiency. Applicants who are native speakers of English or who are completely taught by English in university are not required to provide English test score;

E. The applicant shall be physically healthy, without diseases with which the applicant is prohibited by Chinese laws and regulations to enter China, without severe hypertension, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes and other serious chronic diseases, mental diseases or infectious diseases that may cause significant harm to public health, and shall not be in the recovery period of major operations and acute attack period, and pregnancy period,without severe disability of limbs.

F. The applicant shall not be accompanied by spouse, relatives or friends in China;

G. Applicants shall be recommended by the Chinese embassies in their countries.

2.Application Procedures

First, the applicants should fill in the electronic version of the "Form of Application for CSU Master Program of Advanced Nursing and Medical Technology for Developing Countries", then print out the form and sign the name and date.

Second, the applicants need to send the electronic version of all application materials by email (410576328@qq.com) or fax (0086 731 82650266) to the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiang Ya Nursing School, Central South University.

After being admitted, the applicants need to hand over all paper copies of the application materials to Xiang Ya Nursing School, Central South University at the time of registration.

Finally, the applicants should log on to the website of China Scholarship Council http://laihua.csc.edu.cn/, and enter the program "Chinese Government Scholarship" to apply for scholarship. The acceptance institution number of Central South University is 10533.

Note: Applicants will not receive the admission notice from Central South University until they have completed the above online application.

3.Application Materials

Applicants should prepare complete application materials. Please read the following content carefully and prepare the application materials as required. If the materials sent are incomplete, they will not be handled.
