The Sixth Scientific Research Training Class of Xiangya-UCLA AIDS-Related Behavioral Research Successfully Held

From June 20 to 22, 2016, the sixth training class of the three-day Xiangya-UCLA AIDS-related behavioral research was successfully held in Xiangya Nursing School. Xiangya-UCLA training class students, some faculty and graduate students participated in the training.


The speakers included Professor AnnWilliams, Dr. KavehKhoshnood, Professor DeborahKoniak-Griffin, Professor LynnBrecht, who are experts in public health or nursing from Yale University and The University of California. Professor Chen Xi, deputy director of the Hunan Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Associate Professor Wang Xuyi, psychology expert in The Second Xiangya Hospital, Dr. Li Fei of Institute of Mental Health of Xiangya Hospital, deputy dean Professor Wang Honghong and Associate Professor Li Xianhong of Xiangya Nursing School also gave wonderful lectures to the students. The training mainly focused on substance abuse, HIV prevention and treatment intervention strategies and big data of medical and health care, and guided the students to write the project bidding documents. The atmosphere was active and interactive.

At the end of the training, the trainees all said that the training explained the current situation of substance abuse at home and abroad and related prevention and control strategies in a simple way. It also helped them deepen their understanding of big data of medical care and the writing of project bidding documents. In general, the training achieved the expected results, provided a new way of thinking for the study of HIV behavior, and laid a foundation for the students' future research. After the meeting, dean Tang Siyuan and Professor He Guoping held talks with foreign guests to renew friendship and discuss the prospect of future cooperation.
