Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University successfully held "2019 Xiangya Evidence-Based Nursing Approach and Practice Workshop

At 8:30 a.m. on September 25, "2019 Xiangya Evidence-Based Nursing Approach and Practice Workshop" was held on the new campus of Central South University.

 

Attendees of the opening ceremony included Siyuan Tang, Dean of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University, Xianhong Li, Associate Dean, Prof. Lezhi Li, Prof. Hui Zeng, and Prof. Min Yang. Delegations from Flinders University including Alison Lydia, Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Flinders University, and Dr. Leila Mohammadi, President of School of Public Health, Massachusetts General Hospital in the United States and Professor Maritta Anneli Valimaki, Visiting Professor of Central South University. The opening ceremony was presided over by Li Xianhong, Vice Dean of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University. On behalf of all the faculty and students of Xiangya School of Nursing, he gave a warm welcome to the guests. Mr. Tang introduced the achievements of nursing disciplines in recent years and the international partnerships of Xiangya School of Nursing. Tang Siyuan pointed out that evidence-based nursing plays an important role in nursing practice, reminding the graduates of the importance of learning and practicing, to turn out high-level research results graduates with mission in mind. Lastly, Prof. Tang shared with the participants the upcoming establishment of the JBI Center for International Cooperation in Evidence-Based Nursing at Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University.

 


The three-day workshop was co-sponsored by the Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University, the Evidence-Based Nursing Committee of the Hunan Medical Education and Technology Society, and the Nursing Branch of the Young Scientists and Technicians Association of Central South University. The workshop aims to train international nursing professionals and leverage evidence-based nursing theory and practice to better serve clinical care work. Promote critical thinking and clinical practice of nursing staff with the best evidence to drive clinical nursing practice Scientific, professional and standardization reform, and thus promote the development of nursing disciplines. The workshop invited famous experts from the United States, Australia, Finland to give lectures on the topic, and nearly 200 teachers and students attended the workshop.



The workshop was very informative and diverse, including not only lectures by national and international experts on the topic, but also practical classes and student-related seminars. International experts included Alison Lydia, Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Flinders University, Professor Kitson, Paula Milone-Nuzzo, President, Massachusetts General Hospital School of Health Professions, Professor Maritta Anneli Valimaki, Vice-Dean, School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Ann B. Williams, Director, Office of Global Affairs, Rory Meyers School of Nursing, New York University, Professor Lily Dongxia Xiao, Professor, School of Nursing and Health, Flinders University, Australia, Lloyd A. Goldsamt, Senior Fellow, Rory Meyers School of Nursing, New York University, and Dr. Leila Mohammadi, Medical Education, Flinders University School of Medicine and Public Health. Topics included “Transformation of Research Practice", "Knowledge Transformation", "Evidence-Based Research PICO Terminology", "Translating Evidence into Practice". "Meta-synthesis", "How to write a Meta-analysis and systematic evaluation", "A systematic approach to literature search" and "Evidence Evaluation". The topic of "Meta-Analysis and Systematic Evaluation" was presented by Prof. Jia Guo from Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University. Associate Professor Guo Jia from Xiangya School of Nursing, with the collaboration of three graduate teaching assistants, conducted Meta-Analysis and Systematic Evaluation. Five postgraduate students reported on their current evidence-based nursing projects, which were reviewed and commented by experts on site.



The workshop combined the latest development of evidence-based nursing and clinical needs, and provided participants with training on evidence-based nursing and evidence translation theory, methods and practice, making it a perfect academic exchange platform for teachers and students from home and abroad.
