The School of Nursing of Central South University is one of the first nursing schools in China, which started from Xiangya Nursing School founded in 1911. It is an important part of the famous medical education system of “South Xiangya”.
1. Faculty
The school has a strong faculty with more than 80 professional teachers, including 18 professors and more than 30 associate professors; 8 doctor tutors and 30 master tutors. Among the young and middle-aged teachers, there are 1 post-doctoral station, 4 post-doctoral stations, and 30 people who have obtained a doctorate. 90% of full-time teachers have the experience of studying abroad.
2. Talent training
The School of Nursing has more than 100 years of training and has trained a large number of outstanding medical and nursing talents, with nearly 10,000 graduates, including more than 6,000 full-time graduates, more than 300 graduate students, and 20 doctoral students. They have become the backbone of the nursing sector of large medical institutions nationwide.

Major Introduction
I. Goals of Education
We aim to cultivate advanced nursing talents with good professional ethics, a solid command of the fundamental theoretical knowledge of nursing, basic clinical skills, strong practical abilities, and comprehensive intellectual capabilities.

1. School conditions
The Skills Training Center is equipped with modern medical and nursing teaching equipment to provide students with good conditions for practicing and mastering clinical nursing skills. In addition to the four affiliated hospitals of our school, internship places also include: Beijing China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Wuhan Union Hospital, Guangzhou People's Hospital and so on.
2. International Exchange
We have established programs of academic cooperation, joint training of graduate students and undergraduate students with many internationally famous institutes, including student exchange programs, etc. These famous institutes include Yale University and California University in the United States, Chiang Mai University in Thailand, Flinders University in Australia, Taiwan Health Nursing University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc.

Nursing has been listed as a ‘major with talent insufficiency’ by Ministry of Education, Health Commission and other 6 departments. Facing large-scale comprehensive top three hospitals, the students can be engaged in clinical nursing, teaching and scientific research; or be engaged in teaching and scientific research in colleges and medical research institutions. They can also be employed in health management and health service institutions.
2. Further Study
The top 25% of students in the faculty have the opportunity to study for postgraduates without a test, more than 15% of students are admitted to postgraduates, and the number of postgraduates has reached 40%.
3. Work abroad
Nursing profession is one of the higher-ranking and well-paid occupations in the world. For example, nurses in the United States have an average annual salary of 50,000 US dollars, and the United States needs 800,000 nurses. In Australia, nurses are the easiest to find a job and get a promotion. At the same time, if they have obtained the qualification of an Australian registered nurse, it is as if they have got a "green card" for working in the Commonwealth countries. In 2011, the "Hunan Provincial Nurse Training Base" was settled in our hospital, and a cooperation agreement has been signed with Japanese talent agencies. Those who meet the requirements of the Japanese language can be directly recommended to work in Japanese hospitals.

1. Senior high graduates; both students of arts and of sciences are acceptable, no requirement for the gender of the candidate.
