Based on ISI database (Web of Science) her articles are well cited (in total 179 publications included). Ten of the most cited publications have 457 citations to date (27th February, 2018). Total of 2061 citations exist. H-index is 27.

News in media and popularization of science

She has a strong reputation not only in the academic field but also in national and international arenas outside and inside Europe. She is used to being active in popularising science by writing professional journal articles and cooperating actively with the press. By doing this she can cooperate with consumers and affect positively to policymakers. In addition, she has developed very close collaboration with representatives of the press with whom she can collaborate and actively inform the general public about current topics in society. She has over 100 professional, international/national papers and tens of items of press releases published in different type of news.

 

Services and leadership

She has been invited as an expert to evaluate research proposals for the European Commission. She has been also given depositions to the Parliament of Finland on issues related to health service research, especially in health technology (in 2005).She is an active board member of many international and national scientific boards and networks.She has been a referee for many international journals.

She has e had a part-time position in Tampere university hospital and later at Turku University hospital over 15 years. Her responsibility during the last 12 years has been to support a realization of evidence-based practice and practice development projects.  

Innovations and working with industry

She has established collaboration with industrial partners leading to evaluation of different devices, such as assessing the effectiveness of mobile technology for persons with serious mental health problems. The trial is the largest ever conducted in this patient group. She has also been awarded by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, TEKES to ensure research innovations into practice. The goal was to analyse business opportunities at international and national levels.

 

Development of the evidence-based practice

Her interest in evidence-based changes and practice is supported by the certificate earned in Evidence Based Health Care at Oxford University, UK (2004-2005). She has participated in systematic review courses at the University of Leeds (18-25.5.2004) and at the University of Oxford (7-16 June, 2006).

She has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Cochrane Schizophrenia Group since 2011 . She is also leading a group, which has prepared six systematic reviews/review protocols.  

Because of her close collaboration with the Cochrane center (at the University of Nottingham, UK, Schizophrenia Group), she is able to support development of the evidence-based knowledge and its implementation into practice.
