Establishment Ceremony and the First Academic Lecture of the “Micro Angel” Graduate Student Alliance

On May 15, 2020, the establishment ceremony and the first academic lecture of the “Micro Angel” Graduate Student Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the Alliance) was held successfully, which was jointly initiated by Nursing Schools of five colleges and universities, namely Central South University, Nanjing Medical University, Guangxi Medical University, Xinjiang Medical University and Hainan Medical University.



First of all, Professor Xu Qin delivered a speech at the founding ceremony. She pointed out that the nursing graduate student alliance should take cooperation as the foundation and win-win as the purpose to fully mobilize the high-quality teaching, scientific research and management resources of various colleges; strengthen the communication and exchange between graduate students to produce more scientific research thinking and opportunities; build a broad academic exchange platform to carry out all-round scientific research cooperation and finally promote the reform and innovation of nursing discipline construction.



Then, Professor Tang Siyuan pointed out in his speech that the establishment of the alliance is a new way to strengthen learning exchange and cooperation among nursing schools, which will enhance the status and reputation of nursing in research and create a good learning environment and communication platform for postgraduates.



Secretary Sun Houchun in his speech, introduced the development of Nursing School of Nanjing Medical University. He said that the establishment of the alliance has set the academic exchange and cooperation of nursing discipline at a new starting point. The pattern of multi form, multi-channel and multi angle communication is now forming and the future of nursing discipline will be of more challenges and vitality.



Liu Linglong, president of the Graduate Student Union of the School of Nursing, Nanjing Medical University, explained her vision for the future action plan of the Alliance and thanked the member institutions for their support. Finally, the presidents signed the ALLIANCE memorandum of understanding and took a group photo.


At 13:00, the alliance continued its first academic activity and postgraduate seminar, during which nearly 300 graduate students from five nursing schools communicated and shared academic information on Zoom Cloud.


First of all, Zhou Yufeng, associate professor of School of Nursing, Nanjing Medical University, and Professor Li of Xiangya Nursing School, Central South University launched an academic sharing on the theme of “Essay writing and Submission Skills”. From the discovery of problems to how to select topics and some details, Professor Zhou Shared 5 sources of research problems (from practical work, from the extension of the topic, from academic debates, from theories, from changing research elements, and from interdisciplinary studies), which deeply inspired the students. Professor Li gave a lecture on “how to write an English paper” and shared his experience.



Secondly, the excellent student representatives from five nursing schools shared their practical experience in the publication of papers, including meta-analysis topic selection, literature screening and writing, review writing skills, SCI paper submission and review experience, and scientific research project application experience, etc. Then, presidents of the graduate student union of the five nursing schools introduced the basic information of their own schools and postgraduate training programs, so that students could understand the charm of other schools and deepen their friendship with each other. Finally, representatives of outstanding graduates from five schools shared their graduate experience from different perspectives.


The establishment of “Micro angel” nursing graduate student alliance provides a very precious learning resource and platform for nursing graduate students. Finally, congratulations on the success of this activity, we wish the “Micro Angel” raduate Student Alliance will continue to grow!
